Stop WhatsApp from automatically storing images

WhatsApp users will quickly notice that the messaging service rapidly clogs up their smartphone memory with countless photos and videos sent from friends. 

While users may appreciate the fact that WhatsApp's internal backups mean pictures sent and received don't get lost so easily, older smartphones and models with limited storage capacity quickly run out of space.

However, you can prevent WhatsApp from automatically downloading media files with a few taps.

Head to Settings, then Data and Storage Usage. Once there, you'll be able to turn off the automatic download or allow it only under certain conditions.
