Nissan Terra, an all-new SUV by the Japanese brand has been revealed officially. The Terra will soon go on sale in China, followed by other Asian markets as well. The model revealed in China is left-hand drive, but a right-hand drive model will be developed for other markets. The new Nissan Terra is the first vehicle from the Nissan's frame and LCV division to launch under Nissan's midterm plan - Nissan M.O.V.E to 2022. Nissan considers its frame and LCV division, that comprises of SUVs, pickups, vans, light-duty trucks, as critical to achieving its midterm plan. One in every six Nissan vehicles sold globally is a frame-based vehicle or an LCV, and the company is focused on capturing this division's full potential.

The company's mid-term plan - Nissan M.O.V.E to 2022 - includes increasing sales by over 40% by 2022, eying the position of global leader in terms of pickups and frame based vehicles.

Under the bonnet, the Nissan Terra is expected to initially be powered by a 2.3-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. It is so far not confirmed whether Nissan Terra will go on sale in India, but considering the ever-increasing popularity of SUVs in the country, it may not be a bad idea for Nissan to bring it here.

Nissan frame and LCV sales have shown progress over the year. The global frame and LCV sales grew to 907,929 vehicles – about a 7% increase from the prior year. The rest of the details on the Nissan Terra will be available in April.
